Publication Workflow

Since the status of this Wiki is still experimental, the following rules are subject to change. Accessibility of published content will, however, always be the first priority.

The Workflow for Historical Facts

Historical facts are entered into the Wiki using the Historical Fact Form.

1. First, you are asked to enter a title for the 'fact page' to be created.
2. This title must contain your name in ASCII-characters without spaces: JohnDoe.
3. This must be followed by short forms for the subject term, the relation, and the object term of the fact to be published. Again, please use only ASCII-characters: JohnDoe_ReneDescartes_WorkedAs_Spy, not JohnDoe_RenéDescartes_WorkedAs_Spy.

If you have already submitted a page with this title (i. e. the corresponding fact), you will be taken to a form that contains your previous entries which you may edit. If you have created a new page, you will be presented with a form that allows you to fill in subject term, object term, and the relation existing between them. Beneath, you find a free form field for entering your full name, affiliation, and links or additional information that can serve as evidence for the fact claimed.

The Workflow for Philosophical Facts

This workflow is quite similar to the workflow for entering historical facts:

1. Using the Philosophical Fact Form, you specify the fact first by entering the title of the 'fact page', e. g. JohnDoe_Matter_Is_extended, again, only using ASCII-characters.
2. After creating the page, you find a form for entering subject term, relation, and object term in full. The freetext field at the bottom of the page is used for giving further information about yourself as well as information about the evidence corraborating your statement.

The Workflow for 'Connecting Facts'

The workflow for entering 'connecting facts'; i. e. for connecting spatiotemporal entities with abstract entities is a bit more complicated.

1. You must first find out, whether there is an entry for the philosopher in question in the 'actor' category of this wiki by consulting the Actor List.
2. If such an entry is non-existent, it must be created, using the actor form. For this, you should first try to locate some online information that allows to uniquely identify the person in question. The easiest way to do so is to find a corresponding record in the VIAF database (http://viaf.org). If this is successful, enter the URL of this record in the field "has-actor-appellation". This field only accepts URLs.
3. If the philosopher in question cannot be located in some online database, you can use the free-form field to enter biographical information that allows to distinguish the philosopher in question from others bearing the same name.
4. Next, you must create a new page for the philosophical fact that this philosopher has been related to, if you haven't done so already.
5. The final step: you use the Connecting Facts Form for submitting 'connecting facts' and enter the URL for the person page in the 'proposition bearer' field and the URL for the philosophical fact page in the 'propositional content' field. Finally, you enter a term describing the propositional attitude in the 'propositional attitude' field. Don't forget to save your results!
